Ms. Lauryn Hill, Charlie Wilson, and Musiq Soulchild Perform At Jazz in the Gardens

Another Jazz in the Gardens has come and gone (March 19th and 20th) and this year's performances definitely get my stamp of approval Here's a quick recap and yes...it's just the artists I wanted to see. Sorry.

First up on my recap, Ms. Lauryn Hill. Before i go on, when did Lauryn Hill start going by Ms. Lauryn Hill, did I miss the memo? Anyhow, I heard mixed reviews about her get-up (see pic below) and her tardiness but we all know that she's been on her "artistic don't care craziness" for a couple years now.

I think her look is....interesting. It looks like bag lady meets artist. Some say the look was too "all over the place" but I actually like everything about it, even the fact she is wearing a flat brimmed Yankees hat, layers of shirts and hot red leather jacket with a black puffy ball gown. I know she had to be roasting in those layers of clothing considering she performed in Miami under hot stage lights. To each his own, it works for her.

Here's a snippet of her performance.

Charlie Wilson did his thing as well. At 58 who knew he had it in him? He came out stepping in his black and purple glittery ensemble and tore the stage down! I hope I can do all that at his age.

I'm so mad I didn't get to catch the self proclaimed "King of R&B"Bobby Brown hogging the stage along with his dry humping shenanigans but I heard it was pure comedy. Here is Heads of State (Bobby Brown, Johnny Gil and Ralph Tresvant) performing "Every Little Step."

Musiq Soulchild also hit the stage and blessed the crowd with his soulful voice. He was on for awhile, but I wish his set was longer. Here he is singing "Buddy."

The celebs weren't the only ones performing. Check out these folks bustin a few old school dances during an interlude and during Charlie Wilson's performance.  Dude in the yellow is killin it! Lol.

Michael Baisden Hosts the 6th Annual Jazz In The Gardens Festival

Calling all music lovers, it's about that time! Yes, that's right  the Jazz in the Gardens music festival is returning to the Sun Life Stadium in two days and it will be hosted by the nationally syndicated radio personality, Michael Basden. On March 19th and 20th music aficionados will have the opportunity to enjoy the two day festival which features a wide variety of music ranging from African and Caribbean sounds to R&B.

Last year 45,000 guests attended the event to see Grammy award winning artists such as Mary J. Blige, Robin Thicke, John Legend, Teena Marie, Boyz II Men, Cassandra Wilson and David Sanborn alongside a host of other world renowned talents such as Joe Sample, Melanie Fiona, K’Jon and Eric Roberson,  attracting both locals and thousands of out-of-towners to the beautiful City of Miami Gardens. This year's performances include Miami's own DJ Irie, Lalah Hathaway, Charlie Wilson, Lauryn Hill, Musiq Soulchild, Gladys Knight, Isley Brothers and many more.

Not only can you expect to hear great music, endles food vendors will be there as well...who can resist that combination? Mayor Shirley Gibson can't. In fact she had this to say about Jazz In The Gardens.

“Like all Jazz in the Gardens fans, I wait in anticipation to hear who is performing and once again I’m excited! The 2011 line-up is absolutely fantastic and I look forward to all the fans from around the nation joining us again. This added event in Miami Gardens brings added value to the City and to South Florida in general. I am proud of our City; in the seven years since incorporation, the City has seen a number of tremendous positive
changes and improvements. There is a lot more work ahead of us, but Jazz in the Gardens is more than a concert, it is an opportunity and experience that people want to enjoy year after year.”

However the Jazz in the Gardens festival isn't the only thing to watch for, be sure to look out for pre-festival events, star studded after parties, and the Celebrity Golf Classic (March 18th) at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa which are all happening in conjunction to the festival.

Julius "Dr J" Erving, Alonzo Mourning, Edgerrin James, Nat Moore, Tim Hardaway and The Ojay's are amongst some of the celebs have participated in the past.

Jazz In The Gardens ticket prices range from $70 - $145, but they are going fast so get them while you can!

Kim Kardashian's New Song "Jam"

Kim Kardashian premiered her new piece of sh*t song "Jam" on Ryan Seacrest's morning show earlier today.  Check it out.

I'm really trying not to be so critical of this song....but I can't help it. Kim's singing doesn't sound like an adult...it sounds more like 5yr old singing with a hairbrush as her microphone in the mirror. Everything about this song is horrendous. Kim admitted she was a bit nervous before premiering the song, and she should have been. This song makes me wish I was hearing impaired.

As if her monotone baby voice and elementary lyrics weren't annoying enough, The Dream added auto-tune to her voice making it unbearable to listen too. Scratch that, with or without the auto-tune "Jam" would've been unbearable to listen to. I guess he had to work with what he had.

Though it is horrible, I can't be too upset at this monstrosity of a song. Britney Spears, Rhianna, Jennifer Lopez, and a few others have been singing for years though they OBVIOUSLY have sub-par voices. Kim probably figured, "Why can't I?"

During the interview Ryan asked Kim if she was going to do to tour or cameo of some sort and she replied, "I don't know...in my shower or in my house."

Yes hun, keep that voice concealed so no one else has to hear it live, smh.
